What is a good grade cam lubricant that is used on the felt wiper for magneto points? The instructions in the box say not to use oil.

cheg;

I use the silicon lubricant that intended to be used on car and truck brake parts. It is about the consistancy of vasilene on an warm day. I like it because it is made for high temp, don't stiffen up at low temps and is non conductive. I also like it because it I usually happen to have some around. Can buy it any auto parts stores like a Napa.

I've got it at a auto parts store that carries the Standard Motors Ignition parts line. I don't have the part number handy, comes in a little tube with enough to last you a lifetime and then some.

Cheg, I use a Delco distributor cam lube made specially for mag & dist cam use.
~You can use a little white Lubriplate but not too much.
~Try your local auto parts store, they probably have a special dist lube in a little tube or packet.
~You need a grease that will cling good & not get thrown around, won't dry out with heat & time & isn't effected by cold weather so it won't get thick with the cold & hold the points open...
