When I got my 38 G, The flywheel was cracked so I located another one. I received it today. The old wheel removed without any problem but I cannot seem to get the replacement to slide completely upon the crank shaft. About 1/2 inch from the edge of the flywheels outer rim, It seems to bottom out. The key is aligned with the oil slinger and is not even touching when it bottoms. What an I missing. I checked the ridges (if thats what there called) and all seem to be in good condition. Both are part # F36R..I'm stumped..!!

Only seems logical that you're hitting something....seems like when you're trying to get the lower counter shaft through the gears, they will sometime stop seems like hitting something but it is a wear burr. I bet you got a good wear burr on the crankshaft.

Clyde , if it still wont go take off the slinger and the oil return and then you can see all the splines .

Clyde, you may have to get the emory cloth out. There may be a burr in one of the flywheel splines somewhere.

Hi Jack:
Yea, I thought of that.. Got the Drimmel tool out and polished up all the splines.. Acts like when the taper get so far, It just won't let it go any further.. I removed the locking bolts just to insure they were not the problem.. This is a tough one for me.. I'm leary of beating to hard on this new flywheel because looks like thats what happened to the busted one..however, the new one looks like it had been smacked around a bit itself. Thanks

Hmmm...Old flywheel busted cause someone [had to?] beat up on it. New flywheel refuses to fit up. You shore about them crank splines?
