Where can you get the replacment casting (m4006t) for the front axle on a 435. I was told that someone is making replacements. Maybe I was mis-informed??

Thanks

Arnie, the casting on my 435 was cracked almost all the way around. Since I used the tractor sparingly, I had my neighbor fix it for me. He drilled thru the casting and put SS bars between the casting and other axle part, then he screwed the bars in place with flat head screws ( I think they were 5/8 ) then tacked the heads in place, ground down heads and filled in any small holes. He then tack welded the crack, filled it with metal, ground it down. The only way you could see it was by looking from the bottom. I would NOT reccomend this if it is a daily use tractor.

www.detwilertractor.com has reproduction front axle castings for "W" chassis Dubuque built Deeres. Some crude hack had busted the casting on one of my 435's as well. Some people will throw a chain around anything without looking and impatiently yank away. The casting is a "C" channel rather than a square tube, the unsupported edge doesn't have a chance when a chain cuts into it. Fortunately the engine and starter can be upgraded so the 2-53 will fire right up at freezing temps without pull starting. The original "S" series engine doomed most 435's to the scrap heap.
