What is the rule of thumb for fitting stock cast pistons? How many .001's per 1" of bore? Thanks

Deere Puller, If you bore your cyl and hone to finish .001 --.003 over std cyl size you should be ok. The clearance is on the piston skirt 90deg. to the pin. Example (A Deere bore 5.500 bore) going to .045 oversize .Bore and hone to 5.546-- 5.548. DOES it have a water pump?? Has the block had the lime removed/ Stock tractor??? Tractor puller??? New pistons??? Used pistons??? If you increase bore size you will also increase the ring end gap about .003 for every .001 increase in bore. This big of bore a little extra clearance will be Ok.I hope this helps. Earl In Illinois
