I was plowing with my 50 and noticed an antifreeze smell. I noticed very small amount seeping out around the head gasket on top behind the manifold, but not all of the time. The motor was just redone about 150 hours ago. Could the head just need retourquing or do I need a new head gasket? Am I doing any harm running it this way....could antifreeze be getting in the motor?

Kman, yes the head could need re-torquing, or you could have a leak due to warpage, or a defective gasket, or ? ~If you have the early single induction head & only see the leak a short time after start up & it goes away until the tractor is parked for a few days then re-appears when started again, suspect the rear exhaust manifold bolt/stud is leaking coolant into the manifold casting around the bolt & when the manifold heats up it expands the trapped coolant so it gets pushed out at the bottom &/or around the bolt head. [common problem if the studs were replaced using bolts]
~The only way to tell if it is getting in the oil is to look at the oil after draining, [or if in very small amounts] sending the oil out to be analyzed for contaminants.
~As long as the coolant is ONLY leaking externally you shouldn't have a problem as long as you keep an eye on the coolant level in the radiator..
