I made my first electrolysis tank yesterday and tried it with a couple of rusty old bolts...WOW. Right now I'm cleaning the float bowl for my carb and then ...whatever I can get my hands on. What an easy way to really clean a rusty part. If you haven't tried it yet I strongly suggest you do. I'm gonna get a big tub at Wal mart and stick my front wheels in for a little Alka Seltzer action this weekend.

I'm going to use a leftover plastic tub from one of those big mineral blocks that we put out for the cows. I belive that they will hold about 25 gallons or so. They also make great oil / antifreeze drain pans if you chop off the top 5 inches or so.

If you put any hardened parts in, finish them off in your wife's oven for awhile. Hydrogen can migrate into the grain boundaries and all of sudden you'll get a brittle failure. Baking the parts will drive it back out.

Dutch what kind of tub do you use. Does it need to be galvanized or plastic?

Golddigger-----

Search the archives for "electrolosis". Frank in Tallahassee held a clinic on that topic earlier this year. Lots of questions and answers.
