4020 leaking hydraulic fluid?

Hello,
I have a 1968 4020 with turbo and was draging a gate to level the ground after disking.
I stopped to pick up a rock and noticed the tractor leaking something under the radiator area. (by the pully) First thought it would be coolant but it was a clear oil type fluid. I'm pretty sure it is hydraulic fluid since the engine oil is much darker. I cannot tell where it may be coming from. Any suggestions on where to start looking would be greatly appreciated. I do not see any leaks from the front end loader.
Thank you,
Ron

It could be the plastic line that runs from the bottom of the pump to behind the battery on the right side. I would remove the top sheet metal and check the steel lines. Over time the clamps can work loose or break and wear a hole in the lines. I have a 1966 4020. I just replaced the plastic line and had to braze a hole on one of the 1/4" lines. The steel line had a previous repair. It has been a great tractor.

Best regards,
Gary Brady

Nine times out of ten we find those small leaks at the front to be coming from the plastic bleed line that runs from the hydraulic pump back along the frame rail. It's fairly simple to fix, and the line doesn't cost much. I would steam the area off good and run the tractor to verify where it is leaking for sure.

Thanks for the advice guys. The pump that you are talking about is it ran by the belt and pully that goes to the water pump?
I am not sure which is the hydraulis pump.
Any location suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again,
Ron

The hydraulic pump runs off the front of the crank shaft.. if U pull open one of the front side screans, you will see the top of the pump.

I have a JD 4000 71, found my same as yours is doing now, take the sides off, take a real closer look, there's a hose on the hydraulic cooling system that goes to pump (I not sure what it is hook up to) there could be a very small hole in one those hose. you may want to check.
