I recently acquired a 1941 John Deere A. Engine was stuck, head gone, carb gone, governor apart. I am stripping it done so I can get the 9 hole pressed steel wheels, hubs, and the J O H N D E E R E rear axle cast housing for a mail box post. I will be taking out all of the transmission gears and some parts will be available. I have the steering wheel and shaft, a good slant dash hood, the front end with a little wrinkle in the nose cone, the air cleaner and stack (no bullet holes), brakes, straight hitch, PTO, etc. No 3 point, just the parts necessary to hang a 3 point. I will trade for some other JD parts. What do you have? I would like 9 hole pressed steel centers, 20 inch wide rims, 9 hole hubs for a JD B, offset drawbar for a JD 60, heisler head for an A or B... If I use the rear axle housing for a homemade waterwheel, how long will it last without oil? Or should I fill the rear end with oil? Then I need to keep the back cover.
