I just got my 4th 420/40, a 4 roller crawler. It is a project tractor. Runs good, but needs lots of TLC to do major fix up of running gear. Forturnately, I have a 420C parts machine that has good castings and some good rolls. Also have 2 good final drive housings with no cracks. Now my question. The exhaust manifold is marked M3435T and exits out the side. Is this an orchard mainfold? This was a woods machine and the lower muffler would have been handy as to not get snagged by tree limbs. What do you do for a muffler? I do need a new one. Thanks for any help and I'll have lots more questions. Cpeter

Yes that is the orchard manifold. I would recommend getting the Deere muffler over a jobber muffler. I tried one once, and it did not work too well. Plus you have to buy the short adapter pipe, with the Deere muffler you don't.

Steve Crum also makes a stainless orchard muffler if you are interested.

I just bought one of the (down) mufflers from Deere. It was a little over $100 They have a bracket on them to where you can position it at 3 different angles.
