The "Guide" brand rear tail light housing (grounded through the seat back) has two separate light sockets mounted to the parabolic mirror behind the glass lens. The socket closest to the edge of the mirror is the road light which has the red jewel cover over its bulb. The centered socket is the regular floodlight bulb used for plowing. Each socket has its own wire and both wires run to the ignition switch to their respective posts on the back of the ignition switch. The light bulb beneath the red jewel is a clear bulb without any coloring and is smaller than the center plowing bulb. The multi-position ignition/light switch controls each light separately. If it's wired correctly, you either have the (red) road light illuminated or you have the (white) plowing light illuminated -- never both at the same time -- depending on the switch position: O - ign off, lights off 1st position - ign on, lights off 2nd position - ign on, headlights, plowing light on 3rd position - ign on, headlights, red tail light on 4th position - ign on, headlights dim, red tail light on Hope this helps.
