My axle ends showed some crud buildup, so I assumed the seals needed replacing. Since I had the tractor nearly completely dissassembled anyway, I removed the transmission cover and pulled an axle to take a look.

How the heck do I get the outer bearings removed from the axle shaft? It looks like I need a puller capable of a two foot pull. If I just pry against the oil seal cover, I think I will just bugger it up.

I also noticed that I have two different kind of axles. The left has the oil seal flange very close to the lug nuts, maybe one inch apart. The right has a spacer between the oil seal and the lug nuts of about three inches. Surely this isn't standard...

What do I have, one each of two different axle types?
