Hi--

Have found excellent advice here--thanks! But, I'm a novice and lack a lot of confidence and resources (local people) to tackle what I'm sure many of you would think isn't all that big of a repair. (load shaft seals & rewiring a bad rewiring job are current projects)

I've looked briefly at the IT manuals, and the printing is small, and basicly looks like a reference if you already kinda know what you're doing, it's probably great.

I'm seeing the service manual out there for about $190---and wondering whether it's worth it. From experience with another Deere service manual, for my JD140 LG tractor, a fine, thorough resource, well worth the $35 I paid for it.

What's the opinion on the 3010 manual (I know, covers x010+ models?

...and sure, anyone want to part with one a little more reasonable/know where to find one?

Thanks!

Scott,

I just priced a deere manual for my 3010 from the deeler for 74 bucks I have one for my 4320 and it is a very detailed walk through on every mechanical job you might have on your tractor.

Hey Scott,
Going to tackle the load control seals on my 4020 tommorrow or next day, holler back at my email and I'll let you know how it goes. Rewiring is really pretty simple, high priced but worth it too go and pick up a harness from the dealer. Going to have to do it for my 4020 as well this winter. I may tackle my own but will probably get one from Maw Deere.
YOur local dealer should print you off a copy of the wiring diagram so you could make your own if you wanted too but it would be a job, big time. It takes time to learn working on the big iron. Ihave turned the wrenches on my own for some time and not many things have been hired done, mostly just rebuilding hydraulic valves and injector pump. Service manual would probably be a good investment although I only have a IT manual right now. You would be surprized what you can do when you hear about a $65.00 per hour labor charge!!!!! !
Good luck and holler at me.
GAry

I bought the service manual for my 3010 through Deere for around $80. In my opinion, it is worth its weight in gold.

I bought one for the 4020. Can't remember the price, but felt it was reasonable for the couple of things I have to fix. I know the operators manuals change with serial numbers, so have the serial number when you order the manual.

The manual is worth it----but try calling Deere at 800-522-7448----I don't think Deere charges $190---the manuals sold on this site are VERY high priced----Deere is cheaper.
