Would a radiator sealant or head sealant work with a small crack in head on my old 40 since it doesnt have a water pump to circulate it around.
Thanks in advance.
New to this tractor.

I went through this about a year ago with my 40...ending up replacing the head. Had a small crack that went diagonal above the #2 intake...let antifreeze run down the oil return holes, into the oil pan.

As a last resort I tried the leak stopper, but had no luck. The stuff I got came from a local machine shop, buddy that worked there recommended if but it didn't work. As you suspected, with no pump, the sealer ended up laying in the bottom radiator line...dumped alot out when opened drain petcock !

Went ahead and bit the bullet and bought a new (yes new) head (about $400. The used head I bought from a tractor supply facility (name withheld) ALSO had a crack ! So....went ahead and bought. Realized it was an overseas job, but I've worked that tractor pretty hard this spring/summer, and have had nothing bad happen.
