I have a 48 A that I am restoring. It hasn't ran in 20 years till last week when she came back to life. My question is that it seems to be running much faster than the 975rpm rated for full load at full throttle. Do I need to make some adjustments to the governor? Undoubtedly linkage will need adjusted and carb still needs tweaked. A thanks to all board contributors on their comments and emails with my project, and a special thanks to Mike Aylward and Clooney for all their help.

With the engine stopped, set the adjustment of the rod between the governor & throttle arm so that when the throttle is wide open the rod is about 1/2 hole short of reaching the hole in the carb.. Assemble everything, buy or borrow a tach you can put on the end of the crank. Start the engine and adjust the throttle arm stop screw until you get the right RPM when the throttle is wide open. That should get you where you need to be. Paul
