My 43 B blew a rod bearing today. The sheetmetal is not great. Question is, if I rebuild the engine how much will I have in it? How much other items should be replaced during the job?

Thank you for the advise. I found someone close that needs parts and am using it as a down payment on a 55 JD 70. I will probably advertise the balance of the tractor on YT when he is through with it.

It's probably not going to be cheap regardless, but you could save some money by installing later style inserted rods out of a later "B". That would eliminate having to have the rods repoured, and there's also not maintenance involved in inserted rods. If the main bearings are serviceable, you could remove the crank and have the rod journals ground. You also might be able to find a decent used crank cheaper than having your's reground.
