I am wondering about the fuel pump on this tractor. Mainly how to take it apart or whether it is worth it. The shaft on this one has all kinds of play in it. Almost if pulled on it to hard that it would come out. Is this normal or is the shaft in the pump broken? Is it worth taking apart or getting a new one? The tractor split the crankshaft now the engine will not fire with the new crankshaft and this problem has occoured.

I guess this is a diesel you are talking about.yes,if you pull on the shaft,it will come out.these shafts are designed to break in case the pump locks up.when you put it back, make sure the dots line up and you have new seals.

Split the crankshaft??? You had to put a new Crankshaft in the engine?? make sure you got the Cam time correct.. and make sure the oil pump/injector pump is timed correct...(The oil pump drives the injection pump. Did you look at the teeth on the cam?? need to make sure the pump is turning, and that the pump is not jumping time.. Good luck

Pull it off and have your local dealer or service shop go through it, you'll save yourself alot of headache and know the job is done right.
