Does anyone know where to get a alternator indicator lamp for a 1520 JD? John Deere no longer makes them. Thank you

Ernie, here are the part numbers and prices for the parts of the indicator light. Lens (with the lightning bolt) - AT48673 - $5.62, Spring - R30378 - $0.96, Bulb - AR55694 - $1.45, and Socket - AT44165 - $7.79. It sounds like your parts man didn't want to work to hard. Call him on it, because many of them don't think that parts are available for older tractors, so they don't even try.

Ernie,

G-man is right. Called today to check on something else, and found you can get the whole shootin' match here in Indiana as well.

Maybe the trick is to get to know one of the parts guys -- and have him expect weird stuff when you walk in. Once they know that you know what you're talking about, they seem to listen a lot better. That's human nature. Also helps if they look up your account and see all the stuff you've bought there, too.

good luck!

Steve

Do you need just he bulb or the whole assembly?
Either should be available. What number bulb? 57 or 257? The 257 is the flasher bulb (has built in flasher). Local NAPA has the bulbs in stock here. If you need the rest of the assembly that should be available too, only they sub to different part numbers today. Maybe your dealer was too lazy to look up the sub numbers? I'd try agian. The original one that had the letters "GEN" on it is not available, the new one comes with a lightning bolt on it. If I remeber right, the parts of the indicator light are available as separate parts, not a whole assembly.
Then again, maybe they discontinued them since I last bought those parts.

Ernie,

I may be off base with what a 1520 takes, but I just bought a light bulb for an idiot light in my 1020 a few months ago. Local JD dealer had them in stock. Looks like a normal automotive type bulb painted red -- and if you finger it too much, the red paint comes off!

If you're talking about the whole assembly, that may be a different story -- but I know where to get the light bulbs!
