I went to look at a 720 today as I was going through the gears to check for trans noise when a funny thing happened. When shifter was in the number 3 slot the trans was in fifth gear.So then I put the shifter in the number 5 slot sure enough the trans was in third. No I wasn't drinking I Tried it two or three times even went back to first than back to fifth trans was nice and quiet and shifted smooth.Has anyone ever heard of this?

Plowin911, it sounds like you have the optional 5th or optional 4/5 gear set & the quadrant wasn't changed.
~The 3rd slot would be 5th gear but are you sure on the 5th slot? [it should actually be 4th if you have the optional gear set(s)
~One other way to tell is if 5th [the old 3rd slot is fast [about 8+ MPH].
~Use a yellow grease pencil & re-label the quadrant & see if it fits when you drive it...
~Old 1 is new 2,,,old 2 is new 1,,,old 3 is new 5,,,old 4 is new 3,,,old 5 is new 4,,,old 6 is still 6th & rev is the same.....
