Maybe an old question but I'm new to two-bangers. I have a JD60 and I have the throttle apart and the friction discs are worn completely away;gone. The JD dealer has replacements for $34 dollars but has anyone had success in making their own and with what material? If not I will go ahead and buy them and maybe never have to take it apart again.

Tmac....I bought a friction disk (D399R) from a JD70 fan assembly, made a paper template and cut the proper shape out of the friction disk material. Seems to work okay.

I agree with Putt Putt. Leather works great. I cut mine out of old work boots.

TMAC----- -

Use leather, as from an old belt or something similar.
