I posted a message here a couple weeks ago about the couplers or plugs for the powertrol that make the rockshaft work. (Apperently the one that is closed in the end) Do I need two of these or just one? and if I just need one which port do I put it in? Thanks Willy

On 60's and 70's you either need a selector plug, or 1 open ended for Rockshaft, and 1 closed end for the cylinders. For Rockshaft adjust metering screw 1 turn out from fully in. For Cylinder use the metering screw is turned fully in. Since the selector plugs are near impossible to find, I made a closed end by welding a bolt in the end of an open end plug, which are more plentful. Russ

Why not just screw a pipe plug in the open end instead of welding a bolt in it? Then you can take it apart later and use it as intended if so desired.

1. It can be no longer than the original plug.
2. You would have to have internal threads in it.
3. It can be no larger than the original machined part of the plug.If you can do all of these then it would work. Russ

You must have some different arrangement than I'm picturing in my mind. Is there a pipe nipple stuck in your coupler that it needed a cap instead of a plug??? It seems we could be talking about two different things. Oh well.

My tractor has the couplers on the left side of the seat box. The plugs I am talking about are on the right hand side of the power trol and are released by pulling the lever up. When the 70 and 60's came out one of plugs had a selector valve in it under the knurled knob. To switch from rockshaft to cylinders you just turned the valve, and adjusted the metering screw per the book. Some owners modified these couplers with a pipe fitting, in that case your suggestion would work ok. The reason I modified one is that I had a extra one, it looks original, and the selector plugs if found are about 75.00. Thanks for your input.Russ

It goes in the top port when using the quick couplers on the side. JON

I don't think you need any, if you have the flow through(hole on the end) you just need to adjust the flow control to the rock shaft cylinder (on the upper left of the hyd, unit.
