I have a John Deere 47 loader. It's on a 1520 now. I'm thinking about putting it on my 4020. My question is this! Will the 47 loader take the hp of a 4020? I have old literature that shows the 47 and 46A loaders. The boom and rated lift of the 47 and 46A are the same, but the mounting frame of the 46A looks much stronger.

I have a separate hydraulic valve for this loader. Where is the best place to connect the valve to the 4020 hydraulic system?

On the 1520 i have the special transmission filter cover, with the hydraulic valve return going into the filter. Will this work on the 4020? It looks like the cover on the 1520 will fit the 4020.

Another solution is to go to Deere and buy a Power Beyond Block. This is nothing more than a spacer that goes in your hydraulic remote it allows you to pick up pressure and return lines at your remote without losing the remote.
As for a 47 loader on a 4020,you can make it fit, but you probably will get to do a lot of welding and still end up with alot of headaches.
You may want to consider a 48,or 58 loader,or even better how about a 148 or a 158 loader.I've been very happy with 148 on a 4020 Power Shift.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure what i'll do. Now that i have a cab on my 4020 i would like to plow snow with it. I'm also thinking about just putting a blade on it. I have used my 520 for snow in the past, so if i would need a loader for snow i cuold use that.
I think a 8 ft blade would work nice on the 4020. I have a place that can make a blade for me, and i could put it on the tractor myself. I love to weld, and only use the best welding rod.

You could probably make it work. That doesnt mean it would be any good. With the boom completely lowered on level ground chances are the bucket in flat position wouldnt touch the ground. The tractors physical height is the cause. The 47 was made for smaller profile Deeres. In the 4020`s time the 48 or better yet the 58 deere loaders would be a better choice.

Hi,
You are correct about the return line going into the hyd. filter housing. The pressure connection is on the right hand side on the side of the dash support. You put a hyd T fitting in there to route fluid too your valve. Just got a 4020 with a 48 loader on it and thats the way its rigged up. As far as the 47 doing allright on a 4020, that I could not tell ya. If it is wide enough to go on and you were carefull and didn't try to overdo it, maybe, but don't quote me on it.

Steven,my neighbor has a 3020 with a JD 47 loader mounted on it.He moves round bales with it.You will have to do some welding on mounting brkts.I would want to be careful if wanting to move dirt or rock. You can plumb it in on right side above brake valve for pressure and filter housing for return. Also you will have to relocate hyd. valve rearword to acommadate for 4020 being alot longer, loader will sit further forward.Jim
