My 36B usually starts on the first pull, and runs excellant. But haven't been able to start it last couple of days. It hits a time or two then dies. It seems to flood. After a couple of turns I remove the plugs and they are very wet. Lots of fuel in the cylinders.I'm not much of a carb man, my 2 cylinder carb exposure is limited to DLTX26 which is much different than a DLTX10. Is it possible the float is stuck? My IT manual is not too clear, says the float should be 1/2" from top of bowl. Doesn't say anything about sticking floats. Is this my problem? How to fix? Thanks, HMan

Be careful when pulling those plugs while it's flooded. A guy out here was killed a month ago. Him and his brother were working on a 720 that was flooding. One brother was on the ground pulling the plug, the other in the seat. When the plug was pulled, he turned the engine over to blow out some of the fuel in the cylinder. Fuel blew all over the guy on the ground, the spark plug wire fired against the frame and it burned the guy. He lived for less than 24 hours.

There was an article in Green magazine about the very same thing happening where Dad and his son was working on a B.

In both cases there were several years experience working with combustible engines. Complacency can be our worst enemy.

HMan, before you put a lot of time into the carb or float make sure someone [especially if you have youngsters] hasn't fooled with the idle & load needles. If in doubt re-set them to; idle 2 turns out from seated, & load 1 turn out from seated to see if that makes a difference..... .

When mine acted that way, it was a leaky float. If you remove the float & shake it, you can feel/hear the gas sloshing around inside. Bought a new one at the local dealer.
