My dads 730d ES Row crop. The pto shaft spins when it is disengaged. He says with the baler hooked up it will still spin alittle and then stop. He has tried to adjust through plate on right side, and turned screw, not sure what he has done (don't he knows either). Says If you push down on pedal it will stop, and he has tried to adjust the linkage. Only has operators manual.
If anybody has adjusted one of these, could you send me the steps. Or is there something that goes wrong? Thanks JD Jack

Jack, if the PTO pulls good & doesn't slip in use it is either the PTO brake adjustment or the brake is worn out.
~Have him pull the clevis pin on the PTO apply rod between the pedal & the PTO operating lever & shorten the operating rod a little at time until the PTO will stop with the brake pedal applied. If he gets close to running out of threads there is a problem with the brake, such as no lining, or worn lining, or worn fork shoes, or other internal wear, & or wear at the pedal slot or rod hole. ~Seeing as he messed with the PTO adjustment screw? It should probably be checked for proper adjustment. On the late 720 & 730 all you have to do is pull the cap over the adjustment indicator [in his operators manual] then engage the PTO & gently pull back on the pedal until the slack is taken up, then push the indicator rod in & see where it is compared to the end of the rod tube, then disengage the clutch & latch the pedal & push the indicator rod in again & see how it compares to the end of the tube, the proper adjustment is .090" of movement or one full groove & one full land of movement. If it doesn't have .090" the clutch will have to be adjusted. The adjustment procedure for proper PTO clutch adjustment is in his operators manual & that does a pretty good job of explaining the adjustment sequence..... ...

the screw is a locking screw. This is turned clockwise till the notched collar will clear it. Then you rotate the collar towards the top to tighten. Once tightened to the correct seting align with the screw and back the screw out into the collar notch. The way I adjust is use a pipe wrench, have it lock tight then release, if I can rotate unreleased I set at this spot. Linkage adjustment has nothing to do with pressure. I recommend an IT or JD service manual.
