Installing H engine oil line?

I'm trying to install the LH main bearing oil line in an H engine without taking the whole engine apart. I have the top cover off and got the oil line off from there but am having trouble getting it back on. If I take out the three capscrews from the base of the oil filter can, will the filter base all come apart? If not, taking that oil filter container out looks like a good way to gain some access to the crankcase, but if removing those three screws is goint to let some things come apart that will require even further disassembly fo the engine to get them back, I don't want to do that. Can some one who's been there help me?

Some pretty sore forearms from squeezing past push rods, some cut hands from rod bolt cotter pins, but the oil line is in. In a day or two she should be making fire and smoke but tomorrow I gotta go to the Old Thresher's Reunion in Mt. Plesant, IA.

Leon, Clooney is correct, you don't need to try to go through the filter canister. Get one of those cheap China wrenches, cut it off to about 4" and go through the top crank case cover. Those lines are a "pain", but you'll get it.HMan

Leon, the filter head won't spring apart & pieces fly everywhere but you will need a new gasket between the filter head & can. The problem is the can won't just come out, it is pressed in from the inside using sealer on the case to can interface & the can goes in & out from the inside of the crankcase. ~Those oil lines aren't easy but can be done with patience & without removing the oil filter can. You need small hands & short wrenches. I haven't done an "H" oil line with an assembled engine in years so can't tell you the exact steps but you might have to pull one of the rod caps [mark first] then push the piston/rod forward to get better access.
~The secret to getting those oil lines on is to make sure they aren't bent & will line up [exactly], if they don't fit without force you will need more than patience to get them on.....

Thanks. I guess I'll just be patient, keep trying through the top hole and eventually it will go. I've come very close, but so far no bananna. You've probably saved me from going down a road I don't want to go down.
