I have a JD 730 D. It has what I think is called elephant ears on it, by the hitch. What are these
for? I want to pull this tractor, and will need to remove these to make weight. That shouldn't effect the strenght on the hitch and draw bar?

If they are big heavy castings with heavy bolts both though the sides and up from the bottom they are elephant ears. The lower 3pt arms attach to these castings. If you remove them, what is left is the standard drawbar as on tractors hat did not have 3pt.s
