The clutch drive hub on my 38' B was shot, So I got a -.045 from denglers. The problem I have now is that the hub fits great but it goes in to far and contacts the inner clutch lining. Is there any reason I can't make a bushing to catch on the lip where the outer bearing rides to get out from the recess where the bearing is and then use machine washers to space the drive away from the lining and yet keep it tight on the crank.

Trade it back to DENGLER for a smaller one. He should have several undersizes. Have you called to check????? Earl

JD, The clutch drive hub was and is intended to go on the end of crankshaft tapered spline and pull up tight to the crankshaft before the hub gets beyond the end of the crankshaft. If the undersize hub is going on beyond the end of the crank, the crank is to far gone / worn even for the undersize part. That is why it is pinching your inner disk. You will have to find yourself a better crank or have the one you got built up. Pretty common problem on the older "B's" If the hub is not tight to the crank it will just continue to damage the crank and hub that much more. Do not run it loose, as it will be if you try to space it out, just as well as throw your new part away if you do that. Good Luck, Dave W.

JDBert, you really can't add a bushing or spacer as the driver MUST be a tight fit on the tapered splines. ~If the driver is going in too far & won't let the inner disk release you should start by pulling the pulley off or at least look in the opening that the fork bearing covers to see if the drive gear on the pulley is starting to work off the pulley [that won't let the pulley move in far enough]. If that is ok you might need a driver with a smaller spline, or the L/H main bearing might have a worn thrust surface.
