Thanks very much for the help you guys are giving me. I got the part numbers for the underdrive shifter lock, now I just need to find one. Will this fit in by Late model B? And can I use my orignal shaft(has the same part#)? I ordered a new shifter pawl today, haven't taken trans apart yet. I can push the overdrive yoke out of the detent lock by hand, doesn't really take a lot of force. sliding gear has alittle movement on shaft in it, not much though. If I install and in pawl and add 2 washers to spring and file out detent in rail, do you think this will hold it in gear? Also i was told that if the gear have a taper on gear teeth they will kick out. CAn't see if they do when in tranmission. Do you think it will stay in gear if I do the above to it? I would really like to install the lock in this, so if you know of one could you email me please. [email protected].
Once again thanks for all the excellent help, want to get this fixed before it get to cold,(Wisconsin).

Jack, I would start with the new detent & look at the shift rail to see if the notch is worn on the sides of the notch. If so dress the notch a little with a grinding stone in your die grinder.
~Install the new detent, add a washer or two to the spring & adjust so the sliding gear engages a little farther, then run it, that could be all it needs. If it still gives you trouble you can grind the notch a little deeper or add the locking fork later.
~I've done more than a few of those old B's & haven't had to add the locking shifter yet. I know it will fit the 50 & think it will fit the late B but not sure you won't need all the 520 pieces that aren't the same number as yours.
~It's very possible you have some taper on the engaging teeth [wear is very hard to see even with the gear out] & if it has been popping out for a while it is very possible there is taper from working out all the time. ~If the gear doesn't have a lot of wobble & radial movement you will probably be ok to use that gear.

Thanks Clooney, I will do that when I get the new detent. I think (or hope) that I can slide just the shaft out and try to add new detent and washers, with yoke in tractor.

I believe that shifter comes out first. Be sure to put some cotter key through the pins before removing the shaft. Remove shaft then remove shifter.
