I just got my pistons out today and all I can find on them is 45 over and MWM or WMW.I was wondering what kind of pistons they were?Would the WMW or MWM tell a brand name?I was wanting to reuse them if possible. They look to be high compression. Is there someplace else to look? Thanks for any info.Jack(TN).

Jack my book shows those to be either RKP855 or RKP869 cast iron. My book is around a 1962 catalog. Earl

Jack, The pistons you have were made by White Machine Works. They were bought out by Gould Clevite. Later the Gould name was dropped and were called CLEVITE. CLEVITE is now owned by Dana CORP. Perfect Circle . They should be same ring set up as CLEVITE. A few of the SUPERIOR WHITE MACHINE WORKS were different. Go by Number of rings,Plus ring width,Plus bore diameter, Plus over size you got it. If you have trouble E-mail me.Earl In Illinois

Thanks Earl. These pistons are cast and not aluminum but they come all the way up to the plug holes. It is a 1952 A I am working on.They have the recessed places in them for the plug electrodes so they don't hit. They are also dished in the middle. With my head shaved down to the eye brow I was hoping for some good numbers on the dyno. Were these good pistons for pulling or do they have to be aluminum? Thanks to everyone else too.Jack(TN).

if it shows a MW on them they should be the best piston around. yes they are great for pulling.

Most of the rebore high compression aluminum pistons used were M&W and Clevite. Yours seem to indicate M&W. Rings for those pistons will interchange with the .045 JD rings available through your dealer. I have done this several times since JD rings are available up to .045. If youre .090 or .125 over you have to buy from some other means, which Ive had to do before.

could it be "M&W"? most i've seen are cast aluminum. you could get compression rings from john deere if they are .045 if they are m&w then there will be no john deere part #s but if you still want part #s look inside the skirt.
