I have a JD 70 Gas with the typical flywheel problem. The Spline is worn, and a stock flywheel will not do the job (I've tried two already).

I wonder if anyone knows how the taperlocks work and if there are any tricks to them.

Thanks in advance.
Bob

Bob I have been checking out the same thing for a 730D, the trick is not to put it on and forget it. We have 2 different shapes of splines and the need to conform to each other, so the need to run/tighten, run tighten and so on till they conform to each other. The amount of times to retighten all depends on how bad the crank splines are. I will leave the flywheel cover off so it will be easy to retighten at any time.
You can call Rusty Acres to confrim this if you like, like he said that is what they were made for, bad crank splines.
Hope this helps.
