I have dissasembled the distributor on my model 50 and to my surprise the brass shaft bushing does not have a hole in it to allow the oil from the oil port on top of the distributor housing to enter the shaft area. What allows the oil to enter and lubricate?

That bushing is porous. The oil slowly seeps through it. There is a oil reservoir built into the distributor. I just lost my service information about that distributor to a fire so I can not look up the details such as what weight oil or how full to fill it. I think one oil fill is supposed to last for many years. Anyone else out there know anything more to share with us?

Thanks for the info. I had assumed something of this nature, but I could find no reference to this in the service manual or parts manual for the "50". I knew that the power steering resivor(?spelling) oil fill was porous but the bushing looked very solid, this does make sense, I know over the 40 some odd years that we have owned the tractor it recieved oil and it had to be going somewhere.
