It's most likely the seat switch. I had a similar problem with my 322 when I first bought it. When I was plowing snow and stopped at the end of a run, my weight shift forward and cause an intermittent disconnect in the seat switch. Sometimes it would happen when mowing down hills. Since the disconnect is intermittent, it kills the PTO but not the engine.

Don't jumped or disconnect the safety switch, it's there for a reason.

On my 332, I added a small plastic faucet washer on the bottom of the seat where switch button hits. At first, I had glued it on, but later, I pop riveted it in place. This fix has worked well for 15 years. It depresses the switch farther, while maintaining the original function of the switch.

You'll love your 322. Mine has a 1000 hours on it and it's still going strong.

Don't listen to anyone the foreign engine stuff. But if you do please sell it to me. The 300 series is notorious for having the front PTO electric clutch problems. Otherwise it is a fabulous machine. I have read about several testing procedures on the attached site. Good luck.

there is a saftey switch under the seat, when you go down hill your weight shifts and the switch opens and this stops the mower and shuts off the engine for your saftey. The switch may need adjusting.

You don't know what you're talking about! That
Yanmar liquid cooled 3 cylinder engine will still be going when all them air cooled engines are junked. The JD 322,330,332,430 are the best ones
they built because of the engine. Now to the orginal posters question. The switch under the seat comes up whwn you shift your weight on the seat. I taped my down with ducttape.

I just looked at Kohlers website and they are
tooting a big whistle about their new liquid
cooled engines being their top of the line. I
guess you could call it North American engine
since some of their engines are made in Mexico.
The company I work for builds transformers and we
sent some to a Kohler engine plant in mexico a couple of years ago. No offense taken, like to give a jab or two. I can take several also. I have
had more trouble out of small engines than any other kind. I'll stay with my inline 3 cylinder.

liquid cooled is all well and good but i have never had any trouble with overheating on my k321as on my 140, and for today's kohlers, they are junk!!!

What else would you expect out of a company that builds toilets? And yes I work for a Cummins/Onan distributor.

I bet there's an electric clutch that engages the mower blades. Right? If so, look for an electrical connection in the wire that powers that electric clutch that opens up when you point the nose down hill.

on some models the seat switch will shut off the
clutch put a jumper wire in to bypass the switch
and see if that takes care of the problem DN
