Was cleaning the rust out of the Deltex carb from my "B",1943 model, In the stem the brass nut screws to, to hold the bowl in place, there is a coil spring, my other B didn't have one. What function does this spring serve. Does it keep pressure on the brass nut, for some reason? I understand it ran just fine a few years ago, and has been sitting. john

John, that spring holds the main nozzle up into it's seated position. Your other tractor should have that spring also, if the nozzle is stuck in it's up position due to dirt or corrosion it would function ok without the spring but there is no way of knowing it will stay there without the spring.....

Clooney, thank you very much, the nozzle won't budge, so i'll leave well enough alone. just have to braze up the threads on the end of that stem, so the brass nut will tighten down, 60 years of rust seem to have ate them down. thanks again. john
