Well, we got the 41' A to run on Sunday. Man, it was great to hear the old girl go. She hadn't run in 8 years. She was parked due to some major problems. But, now she is good as new. Thanks for all of your help. It would have been a tough job with only the I&T manual. I thought I would include a list of parts that we replaced. Maybe it would make some people feel better about what they are putting into their projects! :-)

1 crankshaft
1 clutch fork
1 driver disk
1 set model 60 rods
1 pair .090 over pistons and rings
1 set valve springs
1 pair intake valves
1 rocker arm
1 rocker arm oiler pipe
new valve guides, seats and cracked head repair
1 set connecting rod and main bearings
1 radiator core
1 powerlift pump
1 set 5-6 speed gears, fork and shfting rod
1 pair fan shaft bearings
1 aluminum fan driver plate
1 pair sparkplug wires and AC 88l plugs
1 input shaft and sliding gear shaft
1 set sliding gear shaft bearings
1 pair 11.2-38 rear and 1 set 5.5-16 front tires
1 carburator bowl
1 gas manifold
1 muffler and exhaust pipe
1 set of rear axle bearing flanges(I made these)
1 set steering shaft bearings and races
4 boxes of gasket paper

I feel like we've restored a parts tractor! I think it's worth it to bring back a machine that fed the U.S. during WWII. Good thing my labor is free!

Probably around 2,000. We pretty much have a brand new 1941 "A" We bought a parts tractor for $250 that donated many parts. Also, some of the parts like the radiator were replaced before we started the project. It can get expensive in a hurry.

Old JD's are exspensive to fix but once you fix them they work great for a long long time.
