I recently got my G started on gasoline, orginally it had a propane conversion on it,I would like to try running it back on propane, the carburator was drilled with a 3/8" NPT female thread on the top of the carburator before the butterfly valve and after the butterfly valve a 1/8" NPT female thread with nipple for 1/4" hose. I was wondering what type of metering device was screwed into 3/8" NPT. What type of device do I need to control the propane flow? John

there is a load block that fits in the big hole and has two adjustment screws one is big for the load and has a big inlet and the small one and the small line is for the idle,I have a used one. Then you will need a Automotive Regulator I could help if you like

Sounds like your tractor had an Ensign regulator on it at one time. The big connection was for the propane vapor from the regulator. The small line was probably the balance line. I have run a house regulator before, when doing stationary PTO work, and connecting to a larger LP tank but you have a very limited range of RPM without adjusting the pressure.

Yep, some of those old Ensign regulators must still be out there somewhere. On the farm as a kid, we had a 60 converted to propane 'cause it cost about six cents per gallon. Anyway, if one forgot to shut the propane off at the tank it could bleed through the regulator, through the carburetor, past the pistons and into the transmission/differential. When the starter was hit in the morning after the tractor set all night, the belt pulley dust cover became the first Sputnik!
