Has anyone ever heard of an 830 propane? I've heard about one but haven't seen it and was wondering what it might be. The serial number is an 830 serial number. Thanks.

Maybe someone saw a propane tank mounted on the front of the tractor. We used to spud-in propane to the diesel air stream and had an acetylene valve on the dash to adjust the flow. It was good for pulling thru the tough spots.

JD man, are you talking a Deere tractor here [not likely in 2 or 3 cylinder] or a Case 830 LP?

I can find no references to an 830 LP in the parts book or operators manual, so I'm 99.9% sure JD didn't build it that way. I suppose someone could convert a diesel to LP if they had enough time and money. LP is much higher octane than gasoline, but I don't know if it's high enough to resist knocking under a diesel's compression ratio. Maybe the compression was decreased, spark plugs installed in the injector holes, etc. It would be interesting to see photos of this machine.

I have never seen one, but could it have been a 3 cyl 830?
