I know this is prolly to new for yt but i figured of anybody can put me in the right direction it would be here!! My sis works at a the local jd dealer as the parts manager, anyway she was telling me about a nice 2555 they got in so here it is. Its a 91 JD 2555 with 175 loader with a sur-loc quick attach. it shows 4700 hrs. on the tach, it has just had new sleeves and pistons in it 300 hrs ago. It has cab w/heat/and cold air. has new tires on it. It has the 8-2 tranny, the clutch doesnt seem bad brakes are good etc. I can get it at cost, which is 21,000 for it, but i will be able to get it for 15,000 and my tractor(2510) should i go ahead and do it? they ran it on it on the dyno and came out at 80hp, according to the dealer he said the 2555 is the exact same tractor as the 2755, hp included. I can get the parts at 20% off since I am family so if anything goes wrong it wont cost as much. Does this sound like a good deal or not? heres the tractor in short.
~1991 2555
~cab/air/heat
~Loader-175 w/bucket and bale spear-joystick control
~dual remotes
~new tires front and back
~new sleeves and pistons 300 hrs ago.
~15,000 USD-got loan from Deere
Thanks all for the help.
john

Does it have MFWD? it it does its a super deal.
If not its still a good deal. The 2555 and 2755
are not the same tractor though. The 2355 and
2555 are the same tractor, some 2555 were naturally aspirated and were identical to 2355 except for the addtional fuel rate/injector size
for the addtional 10 hp. Some 2555's have the turbo-charged engine though. They are both rated
at 65 Pto hp.My owners manuel says the fluid capacities in the Mfwd axle is different for the
2755 it holds more than the 2355/2555 which are the same. the JD dealer computer"microfishe" pages
have the 2355/2555 on the same sheets. The 2755
has its own parts sheets. When they rebuilt the
engine they must have put it to 2855 orchard specs to get 80 Pto hp on the dyno.

No it doesnt have mfwd, for what im gonna be doing with it i didnt see the need for it. Im just gonna mainly run a 4x6 round baler and mow with a mo-co. I was told the 175 loader is to small for this tractor, is this true? thanks fo the help

The 175 loader will do fine on a 2wd its rated
for up to 75 hp. And I still think you are getting a good deal. It is the ideal size for general haying chores.

Seems to me it has less to do with tractors than it does with family at this point. If you want peace and harmony when you sit down for Thanksgiving and Christmas -- buy it!
