I have seen you post diagrams of certain areas to help with reassembly. I have a 38 G I bought in baskets. I know how everything goes back, except the crank is out, and I need some assistance with the mains on each side to reassemble.

Todd the main bearings in the u/s "G"s are bronze backed F378-r &F379-R I beleive and they are hard to come by,Check the crank journals and true up if neccassary, then mic the shaft, then take the old bearings if they appear in good shape and install them in the end bells(housing),bolt the two halves of bearing together with shims torque bolts down then mic the crank main journal, then see what the bearings mic out at and add or remove shims to get proper clearance I think is 4-6 thousands. If your bearing are not true round like your crank you might have to chuck up bearing assembly in a lathe to true them up,then recheck you clearance, once you obtain a round bearing then all you have to do is take the bearings apart install crank in case and put the end bells on,if you didn't loose a shim in the process your clearance should be correct, but check to make sure. Hope this helps Gman

Todd, I don't have much on the assembly, but do have a sort of [poor] parts book breakdown.

Did you purchase that "G" from a gentleman in Elmwood, NE? I saw one advertised in pieces, and that's where I believe it was. I was just curious what condition it was in, etc as I didn't have the time to go look at it. Good luck with the '38.

No this one was in TN, a gentleman tore it down to nothing to begin restoration, then lost complete interest. Everything looks good, but It will be like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. Tractor was running, ser. # 3451 on rear round spokes, front cut-offs. Does not have low radiator, I don't know if this high of a serial number came out with small radiator.

Maybe the one here in Nebraska is still available, then. I wish I had the time and money to pursue it, but I have enough "junk" already, lol. I think the low-radiator "G"s were below your serial number some, but I can't say for sure. The was I see it, an unstyled "G" is an unstyled "G", regardless of what radiator it has. I know the low-radiator tractors are rare and more sought after, but if you want to get technical, the high-radiator tractors are better, because they were improved. Good luck with the "G".

The low G's were between 1000- and 4250. That is for sure. Does anyone know of any 38 G's or low G's i have been looking
