A friend has located a J D 330 for sale. It is still being used on a farm, tin is straight, paint is original, rubber is fair, and has always been shedded. I'm posting for him because he doesn't have a computer. Can anyone give me an estimate of the value using the information provided?

Thanks Ben E.

Ben,

Maybe you haven't seen the link below. A guy asking 18K for his 330. If you search this board, you're likely to find some auction results on equally, or even more spendy 330's. Strikes me as a little strange that 430's seem to be going for 4 to 6K while the little brother model tractor commands such a premium.

The 330's may be on a bubble now. If you buy and sell quickly, your friend could make some money. There's a downside as well. We've had Arabian horses for years. There was a big bubble there for a while. Prices went up as much as 500%, for the same horse. That bubble popped, and some louts were suffocating horses just to collect insurance. If you've traded stocks at all, I don't have to tell you to be nimble, cut your losers and let your winners ride. If you or your friend are buying because you intend to keep it -- or because you love that model JD - more power to you. If you're speculating, the best advice is if you're going to panic, panic early.

Steve

Can you get the model (S,U?) and serial number? This information would be helpful in determining it's value.
