Shedded tractor, VERY straight and clean, fenders, new rear tires, gas, starts and runs very good, includes a GOOD 6 foot box blade and an almost new 6 foot bushhog, three point works good, had considerable work done in the five years that this owner had it, appears to have less than 3000 hours on it...Any ideas on value...(Located in southeast Missouri).

With the additional information you've provided, I'd say that my earlier estimate of 4000USD would be considered low (especially by the seller). Depending upon the brand and how heavy duty the blade and bush hog are, would influence the price some (I'm assuming this is a package deal your contemplating). You can buy a cheap (Mills Fleet Farm or TSC) 6' box blade and bush hog for around 1000 to 1500USD. If you figure the tractor's value is increased by say 1000USD because of tires and tin in good shape it puts you (with my "base price") at around 6000 to 6500USD.

I personally wouldn't spend that much on a gas because I like diesels (have a 3010D). Some say the gas are more maintenance than diesels and some say the other way around. I put around 100 hours a year on my diesel and don't do anything other than fuel it up and change oil when it needs it. I have a '52 A that I constantly fool around with trying to get running (so far unsuccessful this year). So maybe my dislike for gas engines has been tainted by a tractor that was previously not well maintained.

On a more cheerful note, if you've not had a JD before, I think you will like the 3010. It is definitely a better buy than the JD utilities such as the 1010, 2010, 1020, and 1520 (they want too much for those given their capabilities). And manueverability is pretty good with the 3010 (much better than a 4020).

Thanx for the reply...I think he is a little high, but it is an impressive looking older tractor...I presently run 2 JD two cylinders, and an LP Farmall, so spark plug engines don't bother me...If I get a diesel tractor then I would need to keep 3 fuels on the farm instead of just two. If it is still around this fall and I make a half way decent crop I may pick it up, but will definitely try to get to a lower price. Not a lot of calls for these older JD in this series here in SeMo (but the two cylinders go fast when they come up for sale). Keep the comments coming!!!!! !
