Spent a little time at the auction and show on Saturday. Had a nice conversation with a guy from Sugar ??? IL who had a nice little '35 B. Was talking to him about fuel lines, his were close to original. I had bought a set from K & K, but they do not seem to line up. After looking at his, I understood why. The set I got would fit if the fitting on the starter tank was 180 degrees and the valve was to the back of the tank. But as was his and mine before I took it apart, the valve is to the front and the fitting on the starter tank is turned to the right.

Questions; K and K no longer has fuel lines on their catalog, do they no longer handle them? If I do call them, and explain my issue, can they get the lines I need? If they are not the best source, where can I get these? Can you get a kit with the ends and make your own, and where would one get the fittings and such?

Getting close to starting it and would like know. I am going to make some temp lines for the start, but want to be ready for the correct ones soon.

if you buy a length of brake line at an auto parts store you can have a very nice looking fule line in a few minutes. i used a 30" X 1/4" brake line cut down to about 21-22 inches it went from the valve under the main tank to the carb took only a few minutes using crush sleeves and some of the origional hardware and a new connector to the carb . didnt take much more than bout 15 minutes and didnt even cost $10... oh my B is a short frame also. i dont know how much the repro. fuel line cost but if you make something yourself it could probly be cheaper unless you want an expo quality tractor.

What do you mean by "crush" sleeves. Are you talking about a ferule type fitting? The only thing I question there is are you going to get a good fit to the fitting?

little roud sleeves that are so big on the outside then get bigger twords the middle and then go back to the diameter of the other end if you look at it from the side... im very bad at explaining it but it worked really wel for me

Wind, You can order the thimbles from your JD dealer(part # A2068R nut & E2150R bushing gland), I got some a few months ago to do exactly what you are talking about. You can solder these thimbles onto copper tubing and make you own lines. On my starter tank the fitting is turned to the left side.

Bguy, thanks for the info. I think that is what I will do. Only will have myself to blame if the solder joints leak. I also think the copper looks more authentic, maybe not factory but looks better. What year and SN is your B?

Wind, The only thing I worry about with the copper is if you use it a lot it could fatigue from the vibration but since mine is just a show queen now that shouldn't be a problem. On a working tractor I would want steel lines. I have serial number 7125.

B Guy,I agree with you steel lines only on a working tractor. I was running a roller on an asphalt crew and broke a return line {Detroit Diesel the return lines are under the valve cover}. The mechanic made one from copper, three hours later it filled the crank case with fuel again and pulled a liner{sleeve} into when it locked up.

kjm, Yea, that's the kind of stories I have heard about copper lines.
