Yesterday P.M. after returning from a show my 41 H handstart quit on me. Little history, it,s a well tuned, easy starting tractor. The carb was rebuilt by a pro earlier this Summer and I put a new fuel cap on a couple of weeks ago. But have never had a problem with it starting or running. When I turned on the fuel,it bubbled back into the tank,I don't remember that happening before. I started it, backed off the trailer and headed for the shop, then it quit with never a miss. I tried to restart but no luck. It would not "hit".I pulled the plugs and they looked good and had spark, I had another set so I put them in anyway. I cranked and cranked with the choke at differant settings and finally she started like always. After I got in the shop I shut her off with the choke a restarted her 3 times, no problem. Any ideas? Thanks, HMan

Hman, perhaps the new gas cap has a blocked vent. That could cause a vacuum in the tank as the fuel level drops. The bubbling-back when you open the fuel valve is air pressure trying to fill the vacuum. Try running it with the old cap (or a vented cap)to find out for sure.
