I have a 630 and it will not run unless you choke it. I checked the sediment bowl and it was dirty. cleaned it and replaced the screen on top. I thougth maybe some dirt got into the carb, but have taken the carb apart and cleaned it. Needle is letting fuel into the bowl, but tractor will still not run unless choked. ( Help )

Hi Paul,
I bought an A a few years back same problem. The person who I bought it from said the carb was cleaned by a JD dealer. Anyways to make a long story short after trying everything I pulled the carb. Just soaking it in carb cleaner will not solve the problem. You will need to run a wire and or air through many of the passages. There are videos available from Green Magazine that show what to look for...

Paul, try removing the main nozzles & cleaning the little holes in them, if that doesn't help you will probably have to get a wire into the casting drillings & clean them out.
~Did you clean the inlet screen at the carb fuel inlet fitting [ little cap above it]?

Clooney,

I soaked the jets and all other parts in carb cleaner. I did not see the inlet screen but I will look for it when I get home from work.
