The serial number section on this site lists the 4010 starting in 1961. Is this accurate? Looking into modifying our pulling years to include 1960 and older.

Although 4010's were out in the fall of 1960 they are all called 1961's , made in 1961 , 62 and 63 . They go by the book and it shows a 4010 as a 1961 and it seems like all the books list it the same .

How soon this fall do you think that the 2003 automobiles will be on the lot and for sale? Will a "2003" sold in September, 2002, REALLY be a 2003 or not? It is the same with tractors. There were only the 1861,62 and 63 MODEL YEARS for the 4010, although you can easily find a 1961 4010 built in 1960.

To take your point to another extreme, the 4010 was on the drawing boards in 195?.

When it comes to pulling the rules get pushed to their limits.

We are looking at changing to a 1960 year cutoff, but a couple people had concerns about 4010's. (I did hear of a 10 in a pull that was out done by a 620 and some other colors).

he-he-he.... Your comment about the 620 and the 4010 reminded Me of the last local pull I went to a couple years ago.... a nice clean stock appearing Super M pulled about 50 ft PAST where a JD 4000-D ran out of power pulling.... The old Super M sure surprised me...Never pulled down at all! Then I found out the Super M had more displacement than the 4000....Things ain't always as they appear! hehehehe

JD70Jim,

You are right about the model years. It gets confusing sometimes.

I knew the 4010 was ahead of its time, but wow! Introduced in 1861! I know its just a typo, but still funny!
