How many hydraulic cylinders are there on a 40C to operate the blade. And what is the normal width of the 40C standard Blade. I have recently purchased a crawler and it has no blade. It has the reservoir, control, hoses But it appears that the cylinder only one would be on the left side.

Assuming that the 40C is like the 420C, there will be two hydraulic cylinders to raise the blade. The 420C blade is 75 in. wide across the cutting edge. The two lift cylinders are ganged together downstream of the control valve. The hydraulic system on your crawler was probably used to operate a 3-point hitch and on the 420 the cylinder for this was located on the left side. So, assuming the 40C to be like the 420C, this is most likely what you have. The 3-point hitch may have been removed at some time in the past.
hope this helps.

The model 62 blade used on the 420C had two hydraulic cylinders, but the model 61 blade had only one cylinder on the right side.
