The 1948 D came with 41 tooth sprocket standard which was the driven gear. There was also a 35 tooth and 28 tooth sprocket available which increased the speed. Does anyone know what the speeds were in first gear on each of the gears? thanks for any info

If you are thinking about making a puller out of it you can put it up on 38in rubber and you want to use the big sprockets that go on the axles. The splined axle is the same as "G"you can use the G centers out of the cast wheels with adapt ring to get it on pressed steel rims.Marc Clifton ran one here in Illinois for many years.Earl In Illinois

Jonathan,

My neighbor has a D on steel. So I've got more data than I ever wanted on them.

A post '35 with a 3 speed does about 4.5mph in 3rd. First would be ~ 2.2 mph. The hot rod gearing would get you about 2.6 and 3.2 mph respectively in first. I think the 28 tooth gear was standard on the DI - industrial - which has a top speed of about 7.5 mph. I'm guessing you have an Ag model. Steel vs. rubber would make some difference as well. How exact do you want to get with the info?

Steve
