When I purchased my JD 4430 the Farmer had dual wheels on it. He had the inner wheels adjusted just about all the way inward on the axle. I removed the outer wheels and I have tried several times to adjust my inner wheels out but I cannot get the axle wedge lock to release. I have tried a lot of pintrating oils but nothing has worked. Has anyone had this problem and found a remedey for it?

Check back in the archives section of the dicussion board. This issue comes up often and there are a lot of responses listed there.

With the wheel off the ground, and the wedge bolts loose, run the jackscrews in tight, and hit the end of the axle squarely with a big sledge hammer a couple of times. Tighten the jack screws again and hit the axle again, repeat as needed. This has always worked for me.
