I found out that the clutch drive disc is bad and badly cracked on my 1940 John Deere "A". I have soaked it with "PB Blaster" and abrocroil and still it won't budge. My question is do I need to use a puller to remove the stubborn thing or what. I also think that I have a dry bearing behind the disc and when I took the pressure plate off I was treated to just one disc. It needs two clutches, Right? Thankyou in advance! Hoosier Mark

As Clooney said, use heat around the splines of the disk and let it air cool slowly. Do this two or three times. The expansion and contraction on the crankshaft will help loosen it as you keep pressure on it with a puller. (Yes, you'll have to use a puller of some sort.) Take your time. The previous owner of my JD50 broke a gear tooth by trying to pull the disk off in too much of a hurry.

Mark, if you can't budge it using jack bolts in the slots in the driver then you might need a puller to get it off. [or even heat]
~There should be a second disk behind the clutch driver.
~You will have to pull the clutch fork bearing assembly to get the pulley off [after the drive disk is removed]. Then when the pulley is off, remove & repack the pulley bearing...
