In October 2000 I got a 720 diesel just becuse I always liked green and wanted a big 2 cyl diesel.

It was kinda rough, but the price was reasonable, and I want to use it more than show anyway.

It was quiet when I got it, but quickly got noisy. I found the flywheel loose. Not sloppy loose, just chucking.

I cleaned and torqued the bolts and it was quiet again, for about 30 minutes.

After checking the prices, I said "what the H---", cleaned the splines and put it back on with some devcon two part epoxy. My 720 does not use the flywheel to set crank end play, so I didn't have to worry about that.

I now have at least 20 HARD hours on it and it is still tight.

Hope I never have to get it off. If I do, I'll make a big puller attaching to the pinch bolt holes and beat and heat until something gives.

This probably won't work if it is too worn, but at least if it loosens again it'll be easy to get off.

Good luck

Denglers in Middletown Ohio phone 1-513-423-4000 will sleve your old flywheel with the lock tite hub or sell you a new one ready to put on. We have had one on a 730D for about 6 years now. Belive it or not you sledge it on with a 16# mall. And to get it off you sledge it with a 16# mall. They will send instructions. Freight is big bucks.

John I am not for sure but I believe that they are NOT new flywheels. Maybe someone will reply that has used one. They tell me that its a industrial type hub that they machine and put in the old flywheel. Earl
