I need to replace the rear tires on a 4430 quad range (singel tire). 18.4-38 Is this very difficult. Can I do it myself or do I need professional help?

Thanks
Heath

If you have no experience changing tires, you don't want to start with these. They're not all that big compared to the rubber on the newer tractors today, but they are still very heavy and awkward to handle by yourself, unless you know what you're doing and have the tools. It will cost you probably somewhere around $100 give or take to have a tire shop do them, and they'll probably be done in an hour or so, and more than likely it will be done correctly the first time and in a safe manner. They have the automatic bead-breakers, quick inflators, etc to make it look real easy. I recommend starting with a front tire if you want to learn how, and then you'll be able to decide if you want to tackle the rears - but I'm betting you won't.

I've changed 100's of tires when I was a kid... including some rear tractor tires... like 12.4 X 38 6-ply, 13.6X38 6-ply etc. and NO WAY would I even think of trying to change an 18.4 X 38 6 or 8 ply. More plys make them stiffer and tougher to change. I put new tires on the back of my oldest two Cub Cadets last year and that's big enough tires for ME! You should have seen the tire mounting machines We used at Farmall to mount rear tires! Just like a Coates Tire machine except about 4-5 times bigger. Sat in a pit in the floor 8-10 feet deep. We had 2 of them to mount the 500-600 rear tires & duals We needed everyday.

Do it yourself if you have the right tools and it does not have fluid for weight in the tires. not real easy job.
