Does anyone know what the sway braces look like for the 3pt on a 40? or how they work. Is the stabilizer included in this auction a sway brace?

I am only familiar with the 40t. Don't remember using the sway brace for anything but the rear cultivators. We had a converted mule drawn planter but didn't use a brace. It followed the tractor path well enough. The rear cultivator would plow out the next row though it it wasn't braced some in curves. The sway chains were sufficient for breaking plows, disc, etc.

My 40 s also uses the sway brace for the rear cultivator tool bar. The other devices won't hold center when the implement is lowered. A friend with a 40t uses the sway brace too, but it is larger. Both fit onto brackets on the tractor.

Bill, I don't exactly know how to answer this question.
~The 40 uses both sway chains, sway locks, & or the stabilizer arm shown. [depends on the application]
~The sway locks are short pieces of steel with slots in them that flip out & keep the implements that [don't use sway control] from hitting the rear tires [in transport only].
~The sway chains can be used for rear blades or anything that needs to be sort of centered & doesn't have a slot for the stabilizer arm & is still allowed to raise & lower.
~The stabilizer arm actually fits in a slot in the correct implements to keep them centered & still allow lifting.
~Keep in mind that the 3-point is slightly different between the 40-S, 40-T, 40-W, 40V & the 3-point parts are slightly different.
~I'm also not sure if all the 40's use the stabilizer arm [I know my 40-S uses chains, locks & the arm if needed..... ..

Thanks for the info. I've got a 40S but I've never seen the sway braces that are described in the OM. Does the end of the brace just ride in the slot between the two uprights for the top link? Looks like I could build my own easy enough and would probably be useful if I ever mount a corn planter or rear cultivator on the back.
